Assumed knowledge
The Master of Occupational Therapy has a number of pre-requisites for admission, and students must demonstrate a level of academic achievement in the areas of Physiology, Anatomy, Communication, Research Methods, and Social Perspectives in Health before being admitted to the course. These admission requirements form the basis of all assumed knowledge.

Topic description
The Occupational Therapy Process including key theoretical approaches with application to scenarios across the lifespan and work settings. Build essential occupational therapy tools and building blocks for use in other topics. Apply concepts from field visits to the Occupational Therapy Process.
Educational aims
The aim of this topic is to introduce students to the Occupational Therapy Process, and key theoretical approaches to practice, and to develop fundamental core skills in occupational therapy evaluation and practice.
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic, students will be able to:

  • Describe the Occupational Therapy Process, the Occupational Therapy Practice Framework and key occupational therapy practice models

  • Apply the Occupational Therapy Process, the Occupational Therapy Practice Framework and key occupational therapy practice models to case scenarios at a beginning level

  • Develop selected evaluation and practice skills at a beginning level
