2 OCCT8001 - The Occupational Therapy Process
Must Satisfy: ((1 or 1a) and 2)

The Master of Occupational Therapy has a number of pre-requisites for admission, and students must demonstrate a level of academic achievement in the areas of Physiology, Anatomy, Communication Skills, Research Methods, and Social Perspectives in Health before being admitted to the course. These admission requirements form the basis of all assumed knowledge in this topic.

Assignment(s); Examination (30%); Laboratory excersises; Tests.

This topic will be structured around case scenarios that will enable students to build a framework for occupational therapy evaluation and intervention in the key areas of: acute care, aged care, rehabilitation, mental health, working with children and working with communities.

The aim of this topic is to extend the student’s ability to apply the Occupational Therapy Process, and key theoretical approaches to practice, and to refine core skills in occupational therapy evaluation and practice.

On completion of this topic, students will be able to:

Apply the Occupational Therapy Process, the Occupational Therapy Practice Framework and key occupational therapy practice models to case scenarios at an intermediate level
Demonstrate selected evaluation and practice skills at an intermediate level
Apply occupational therapy approaches and interventions in the context of selected disorders and diseases and practice environments
