Content from the first year of the M Occupational Therapy and the required prerequisites

This topic gives students the opportunity to undertake in-depth study in an area of personal interest related to research, evaluation, quality management or development of an innovative resource or intervention relevant to occupational therapy. Students will develop an industry generated project plan and then work independently over the final 6 weeks of the course to complete the project with minimal supervision (but collaborating with agency sites as required). Students will present their work at a seminar which will also focus on assisting the student to transition to being a practitioner.

The aim of this topic is to facilitate the student's ability to develop and manage their own learning and transition to being an occupational therapy practitioner.

Upon completion of this topic students will be able to:

• Prepare a project plan using an industry generated topic

• Demonstrate an ability to work independently to meet the project’s aims

• Present their work at a professional level commensurate with a beginning level therapist.

• Identify issues and strategies in transition from occupational therapy student to practitioner
