Course context
Core topic - Master of Public Administration
Topic description
The topic orientates students to the skills and institutional cultures related to academic research and the role of social science in vocations outside of higher education. Topics covered include project design, professional writing, critical reading and critique, data sets, funding bodies, presentation skills and career planning.
Educational aims
The aim is to equip students with a range of skills, both theoretical, academic, practical, professional and research related.
Expected learning outcomes
On successful completion of this topic students sould be able to:
  • Construct and appropriate research proposal for a Masters minor thesis
  • Understanding and complete a literature review specific to their Masters thesis topic
  • Understand the requirements of, and apply for (if neccessary), research ethics approval
  • Be able to clearly, orally present on their research topic, for an academic audience.
