Topic description
This topic develops the knowledge and skills required to write for a range of purposes in the digital environment. It requires the demonstration of online writing skills for a range of purposes at professional industry standards which include producing: a response to a brief for writing web content; edited web pages which comply with industry conventions; re-purposed text such as that required to convert a print resource to a web page.
Educational aims
This topic aims to:
- Introduce students to conventions of written English for professional contexts
- Provide students with the opportunities to assess their own, and others, written texts, and identify areas for improvement
- Introduce skills in editing and redrafting
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic students will be able to:
- Produce a response to a brief for writing web content.
- Produce simple, edited web pages, which comply with conventions
- Produce re-purposed text, e.g. print resource to web page.
