Topic description
This topic develops knowledge and specific skills related to writing styles, techniques, formatting and presentation for technical writing. A range of writing styles and techniques will be explored, from simple process instructions, to detailed and sophisticated technical reports.
Educational aims
This topic aims to:
- Introduce students to a range of professional writing genres, styles, and techniques
- Develop students’ knowledge industry contexts in which professional writing is used
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic students will be able to:
- Apply technical writing conventions and techniques for the successful production of technical communications
- Demonstrate careful editing and redrafting of original writing as necessary
- Apply a range of technical writing skills, appropriately to professional contexts
