Topic description
In this topic students will further develop production skills in camera and lighting, sound recording and sound design and editing.

Students will be introduced to elements of story and script writing. Students will further work with actors and produce a short drama production.
Educational aims
This topic aims to:

  • allow students to further develop camera and lighting, sound recording and sound design and editing production skills

  • introduce students to the basic elements of story including drama, structure and characters

  • allow students to generate short story ideas and work within a set screen time

  • introduce students to the principles of effective and respectful communication with actors

  • provide students with the opportunity to utilise production skills on a short drama project
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic students will be able to:

  • demonstrate a sound knowledge of camera and lighting, sound recording and sound design, and editing production skills

  • recognise and articulate the basic elements of story including drama, structure and characters

  • generate a short story idea and work within a set screen time

  • communicate effectively and respectfully with actors

  • demonstrate a completed short drama project
