Topic description
In this topic students will apply artistic and digital principles, in a series of practical exercises These activities are designed to build an understanding of the technicalities involved in bridging the gap between the theory of art and its practice.
Educational aims
This topic aims to:

  • provide students with the opportunity to reflect on traditional artistic practices
  • allow students to produce a series of works demonstrating their understanding of the principles of light and form
  • Build on new and established knowledge of the principles of artistic practice
  • Provide opportunities for students to develop an understanding of the workings of a professional digital studio.
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic students will be able to demonstrate:

  • The ability to manipulate lighting, form and shading
  • appropriate use of vocabulary specific to a digital artist
  • a progression of practical skills through regular practical exercises.
