Topic description
This topic introduces students to cameras and equipment that are not commonly used in other SCME topics. Students will be exposed to the protocols and the specific language associated with the screen industry
Educational aims
This topic aims to:

  • enable students to build on production skills including camera and lighting, editing, sound recording, and sound post production

  • provide students with opportunities to develop screen production skills through group activities and assignments

  • provide students with opportunities to collaborate creatively and problem solve with their peers

  • onset protocols

  • to allow students to further develop the skills in risk assessing and generating paperwork for a screen production project
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic students will be able to:

  • collaborate effectively with peers to complete short film projects

  • demonstrate problem solving in creative work

  • show evidence of initiative, leadership and creativity within a group context

  • demonstrate skills in operating screen production equipment and software, including a high level of competence in the use of location sound recording equipment, non-linear picture editing and sound editing

  • further demonstrate an ability to complete paper work, agreements and permissions for screen production

  • risk assess, generate paperwork and gain permissions for a screen production project
