Topic description
In this topic students will have the opportunity to explore advanced conceptual and technical cinematography for screen production including drama, documentary and underwater camera techniques.
Educational aims
This topic:
- provides students with an understanding of how the camera is used for screen production with reference to drama, documentary and underwater productions
- provides students with an opportunity to view fiction and non-fiction films and discuss the cinematography
- provides students with an understanding of the role of the cinematographer in screen production
- allows students to further develop the skills in risk assessing and generating paperwork for a screen and media production project
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic students will:
- have demonstrated a theoretical understanding of the role of the camera and cinematographer in screen production
- have demonstrated a sound understanding of the use of the camera in drama, documentary and underwater productions
- have a more specific application of advanced camera techniques through individual research
- be able to risk assess, generate paperwork and gain permissions for a screen and media production project
