Topic description
In this topic students will work with a supervising lecturer to oversee the post-production (including editing, sound design, DVD authoring and marketing) of a 6-8 minute screen production major project from the perspective of a producer/director. Under the supervision of the lecturer, students will manage the production of their major project including crew, participants, logistics and schedules.
Educational aims
This topic aims to further develop:

  • student producing and directing skills in the management of post-production for a 6-8 minute screen production major project

  • student skills in collaborating with editors and sound designers in post production

  • student skills in delivering consumables for a range of platforms including electronic files, tape masters and DVD

  • student skills in the development of a marketing kit for a screen production major project

  • skills in risk assessing and generating paperwork for a screen and media production project
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic students will be able to:

  • make creative and technical decisions from the perspective of a producer/director

  • collaborate with editors and sound designers to complete a screen production major project

  • complete consumables for exhibition and distribution for film festivals, television broadcast and online exhibition

  • develop electronic and hard copy press kits for the marketing of a screen production major project

  • risk assess, generate paperwork and gain permissions for a screen production project
