Topic description
This topic furthers student understanding of digital story telling, providing opportunities to develop editing, sound design and colour grading post-production skills. With an emphasis on tourism, archaeology, cultural heritage and environment, students will experience the compilation and completion of a digital story within a limited time. Students will be exposed to digital story telling post-production pathways, with opportunities to extend their knowledge while working collaboratively and creatively with their peers on problem-solving.
Educational aims
This topic aims to:

  • introduce students to the basic elements of digital story telling post-production including editing, sound design, colour grading and DVD authoring

  • introduce students to the basic elements of editing, sound design, colour grading and DVD authoring on a Final Cut Pro non linear edit system

  • introduce students to digital post-production equipment through assignments and short production exercises

  • enable students to prepare, organise and manage the post-production process

  • enable students to work collaboratively in the post production of a digital story
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic students will be able to:

  • edit tourism, archaeology, cultural heritage or environmental stories suited to the short digital story telling

  • demonstrate a basic working knowledge of editing, sound design, colour grading and DVD authoring in the Final Cut Pro program

  • apply their knowledge of editing sound design, colour grading and DVD authoring to complete short digital stories

  • collaborate with their peers in the post-production of digital story telling production

  • demonstrate problem solving on a creative piece of work

  • show evidence of initiative and creativity

  • demonstrate an understanding of the post-production pathway for digital story telling production
