Topic description
This topic is used as a preliminary step in preparing work for the thesis - such as the literature review or outline of the research to be undertaken. The thesis supervisor is responsible for the topic coordination.
Educational aims
This topic aims to:
- introduce students to the components of research
- differentiate between qualitative and quantitative approaches to research
Expected learning outcomes
On successful completion of this topic, students should be able to:
- Understand different research methodologies available for researching social questions
- Understand how to create a database and manipulate variables using SPSS Package.
