Topic description
This topic introduces students to the ways in which philosophy has influenced Christian thinking. It surveys the history of Western philosophy from Plato to Postmodernism, highlighting major examples of the interaction of philosophy and religious thought.
Educational aims
The aims of this topic are to:

  • become acquainted with the history of Western philosophy
  • to explore the influence of philosophy on Christian thinking
  • develop skills in critically interpreting philosophical and religious texts
  • work in a seminar group to consolidate learning and share ideas with others
