Topic description
This topic builds on preliminary biblical Hebrew studies by increasing the scope of Hebrew scripture to be translated and by a more detailed examination of the structure of the language. A wider range of lexicographical aids is introduced with an increased knowledge of grammar and syntax of the Hebrew language.
Educational aims
In this topic students will:
- increase their skills in and knowledge of Biblical Hebrew
- develop their skills in dealing with grammatical and syntactical knowledge
- develop their skills in dealing translation as a basis for exegesis of the text
Expected learning outcomes
By the end of the topic students will be able to:
- translate selected Hebrew texts, with the assistance of dictionaries
- employ critical apparatus in the BHS edition of the text
- develop skills in exegesis of the Hebrew Scriptures
