Topic description
This topic investigates an aspect of New Testament studies. This aspect might be a recent contribution to New Testament exegesis (e.g., work of the post-Bultmannian school) or a special topic in New Testament theology (e.g., recent discussions concerning the relationship of New Testament theology to other theological disciplines). A proposed method of assessment must be submitted to the topic convener. After approval has been given a supervisor with whom the student will work will be appointed. Attendance at lectures, tutorials and/or seminars may be required.
Educational aims
This topic provides students with opportunities to:

  • investigate an aspect of New Testament Studies in depth
  • develop skills in basic research and analysis

Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic students should be able to demonstrate that they can:

  • identify an issue in New Testament Studies that merits scholarly investigation
  • select relevant evidence about the chosen issue and evaluate its worth
