Topic description
This topic will consider at some depth the philosophical and theological aspects of a number of contemporary biomedical issues and how these are addressed in a pluralist society. Special attention will be given to reproductive technology. Students will be expected to show familiarity with a range of issues in addition to presenting a project in a specific area.
Educational aims
This topic provides students with opportunities to:

  • investigate an aspect of Bioethics
  • develop skills in basic research and analysis

Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic students should be able to demonstrate that they can:

  • identify an issue in Bioethical Studies that merits scholarly investigation
  • select relevant evidence about the chosen issue and evaluate its worth
