This analysis will seek to evaluate how people might then live generously and wisely in contemporary contexts. Issues could include topics from public or private situations of conflict, bioethics, and integrity in the workplace.

The aims of this topic are to:

  • provide foundational knowledge in Christian ethics, drawing from the scriptures, theological tradition, cultural understandings and wider resources of philosophical ethics

  • develop the skills and ability to critically engage with ethical issues while drawing from these sources

  • evaluate the implications for living ethically in contemporary contexts, considering key issues of current importance, for example, public and private situations of conflict, bioethics, or integrity in the workplace
Expected learning outcomes

  • analyse critically and evaluate the contributions to ethical thinking and practice that scripture, theological tradition, cultural understanding and philosophical ethics offer
