Topic description
This topic explores community practices of pastoral care for people within contemporary contexts. It focuses on developing practical wisdom in spiritual communities through reflection and action in local environments.
Educational aims
This topic aims to provide students with:
- opportunities for critical engagement with complex social and theological challenges in spiritual care.

Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic students will be able to:
- Critically discuss and compare theological frameworks of community based spiritual care.
- Evaluate methodologies of care practices for a range of complex issues and develop practices for implementing them in community contexts.
- Research and develop responses to a local crisis situation and formulate appropriate community care practices.
