Topic description
This topic allows students to develop a Masters dissertation research proposal, both in a peer-based classroom setting, and through individual contact with a supervisor.Students will identify a research paradigm and methodology, as well as developing a preliminary literature review. Research proposals will be reviewed, and approved as part of a Masters dissertation.
Educational aims
This topic aims to:
- allow students to develop an academic research proposal
- further develop their understanding of research design
- undertake a scholarly discussion concerning their own research area.
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic students will be able to demonstrate the ability to:
- construct a valid and reliable research proposal
- develop a logical and coherent research design
- analyse critically literature in their research area and link it to their own research
- communicate their research design, both verbally and in writing, to a range of audiences
