Topic description
This topic builds on one previously introduced studio. Students will explore how this field developed historically, and its interconnection with other areas of the visual arts, alongside developing practical and creative skills in their chosen studio area.
Educational aims
This topic aims to provide students with the opportunity to:

  • develop their skills in one of the 2D or 3D studios taken in VISA1003

  • explore a range of concepts and techniques in that studio

  • explore how works in their chosen studio have developed historically, and how this development has influenced contemporary practice

  • develop an understanding of the creative process, including the documentation of the development of creative work
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic students will be able to:

  • produce creative works in their chosen studio through experimentation with concepts and processes

  • document and research historical processes and influences in that studio

  • reflect on the creative process through the completion of a journal

  • demonstrate safe practice and relevant WH&S procedures
