Topic description
This is an introduction to printmaking. It is suitable for beginners and for students who wish to further develop printmaking skills. The topic will introduce students to a variety of printmaking techniques and encourage their use in an expressive manner. The history and theory of the medium will be covered and health and safety issues will be addressed.
Educational aims
This topic aims to:

  • introduce students to a variety of printmaking techniques

  • provide students with the opportunity to develop an understanding of the principles and practices of the printed image

  • provide students with the opportunity to investigate and translate printmaking concepts using appropriate methods and materials
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic students will be able to:

  • identify printmaking processes

  • understand the concepts and principles of printmaking

  • demonstrate skills by producing printed images using a variety of media
