Topic description
This topic will provide students with the opportunity to develop their research proposal that will underpin their Education Honours thesis. It will explicitly focus on the research design and methods including a conceptual and theoretical framework. Students will also be asked to present their proposal to peers and staff as a requirement within the topic.
Educational aims
The aims of this topic for the student are to:

  • understand research design and methods appropriate to their research project
  • engage with a conceptual and theoretical framework which will underpin their research
  • develop an understanding of how to design a research project and its research methods
  • develop skills in presenting their proposal and interpreting, and acting on, responses
Expected learning outcomes
The students will:

  • construct a research proposal

  • articulate their understanding of research methods and design through a presentation to peers and staff
