Topic description
This topic introduces themes and practices related to the development of healthy leadership for ministry in the church. Self-awareness, congregational awareness and the complexity of the interactions between the two will be studied within pastoral formation frameworks.
Educational aims
The aims of this topic are to:
- provide opportunities for enhancing self-awareness in the areas of emotion, cognition and spirituality for leadership
- encourage informed and reflective congregational/systems awareness
- explore values in relation to leadership challenges in pastoral ministries
- encourage safe environments for exploring critical theological reflection on relationships between God, self and others
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic students will be able to:
- define and discuss the role of the self in leadership
- analyse their personal attributes and opportunities for growth in their ministry and leadership roles
- demonstrate knowledge and skills in congregational contextual analysis
