Topic description
This topic forms part of the English Honours program for Creative Writing students. Students will discuss a series of readings which explore various theoretical approaches to creative writing. Students will be given the opportunity to write critically and creatively in response to these readings.
Educational aims
This topic aims to:

  • furnish students with a theoretical context in which to locate their creative writing

  • develop an ability in students to reflect critically on their own and others creative writing practice
Expected learning outcomes
On completing this topic students will have gained:

  • skills in close reading of writing about creativity

  • an ability to locate writing practice in the context of theories of creativity

  • the ability to communicate the applications of theoretical concepts about creativity to writing
