Topic description
In this topic students will develop knowledge and skills for application in a range of acute care nursing environments. They will also have the opportunity to observe acute care nursing practice in a clinical venue.
Educational aims
The aims of this topic are for students to develop their knowledge and skills for application in a range of acute care nursing environments.
Expected learning outcomes
On successful completion of this topic students will be able to:

  1. apply a number of major concepts and theories to acute care nursing practice

  2. conduct a focused health assessment

  3. determine and implement evidence based clinical nursing interventions

  4. identify clinical patterns occurring in complex acutely ill and/or critically ill deteriorating patient and draw inferences from these to inform practice

  5. articulate the way in which the nursing practices in their country of origin compare to those in an Australian acute care nursing setting
