As with any relationship there are a number of problems that can occasionally occur.
Difficulty maintaining contact
If you have lost contact with your mentee or having to chase them for a response, please email firstname.lastname@example.org to have the concerns addressed.
Either you or your mentee may at times find it difficult to commit the time required for the program due to work, family or health issues, for example. This is okay. Please discuss with your mentee. You may choose to keep the mentoring relationship open until the situation changes, or you may choose to conclude the mentoring at that time. You can also choose to not make yourself available as a mentor for a period of time. Within Flinders Ignite Mentoring online you just need to select the PAUSE button and you will no longer be visable as a mentor to the other users of the system.
If the commitment problem is more about the attitude of the student, then you can either address this directly with them or email email@example.com to have them address your concerns with the mentee.
In this case, mentoring relationships are being formed based on a small amount of information shared about mentors and mentees. There is the possibility you may not be able to build the level of rapport required. This is completely okay. If that's the case, it's important that you raise this with the mentee and conclude the relationship amicably. It will occasionally occur and is no-one's fault.
