Program of study

To qualify for the Master of Disability Policy and Practice a student must complete 72 units with a grade of P or NGP or better in each topic, according to the following program of study.

Core - Year 1 & 2 topics

DSRS9057  Disability: Individual, Family and Society* (4.5 units)

Plus at least one of the following independent research topics

DSRS9054  Directed Study in Disability  (4.5 units)
DSRS9066  Disability Capstone Project  (4.5 units)
DSRS9055  Coursework Project in Disability/Rehabilitation  (9 units)
DSRS9030A  Dissertation in Disability  (18 units)#

DSRS9057 must normally be completed in the student’s first semester of enrolment.

# Students who wish to undertake the Dissertation topic may first need to undertake an appropriate research methods topic unless they have previously studied research methods. They should discuss options with the Course Coordinator.

Not all topics are necessarily available in a given year. In addition to completing option topics offered by Disability and Community Inclusion, students in the Master of Disability Policy and Practice may also take relevant topics outside of the disability area (e.g. health, education, creative arts, sociology, aged care, rehabilitation, counselling).

Enquiries in relation to choices in option topics should be made to the Course Coordinator.

The award of a grade of Fail (F) in the same topic on more than one occasion may constitute prima facie evidence of unsatisfactory progress for the purposes of the University's Policy on Student Progress.

Except with permission of the Faculty Board the program must be completed full-time within four consecutive semesters or the equivalent part-time.
