The Associate Degree of Arts requires two years of full-time study (or the equivalent part-time).

The Associate Degree of Arts is administered by the BA Management Committee. Major sequences and individual topics are offered in a range of schools and departments and fields of study drawn from across the University.

The Associate Degree of Arts is offered only as an exit award for students currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts who choose not to complete that program.

Students are required to complete units from at least two sequences at Levels 1 and 2.

Course aims

The Associate Degree of Arts provides students with a broad range of disciplinary and interdisciplinary studies from across the University, with a focus on aspects of human culture and achievement. Sequences can be taken within the Faculties of: Education, Humanities and Law; Science and Engineering; and Social and Behavioural Sciences.

The course aims to provide students with:

  • the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • an understanding of the value of ethical behaviour.
