The Bachelor of Science (Forensic and Analytical Science Pathway) is offered as part of the Bachelor of Science suite and requires one year of full-time study (or the equivalent part-time). The Pathway is offered by the Faculty of Science and Engineering. Upon successful completion of the one-year Forensic and Analytical Science Pathway, students will transfer to one of the courses listed under the Program of Study below.

Program of study

After successful completion of the one year Pathway, students will transfer to one of the following courses:

  • the Bachelor of Science (Forensic and Analytical Science).  Students will be guaranteed entry on the condition that a GPA of 4.00 (Pass) or higher is achieved over the 36 units of study. Upon transferring students will receive 36 units of credit transfer towards the Bachelor of Science (Forensic and Analytical Science).
  • the Bachelor of Science, in which they will be required to select an appropriate program. Dependent upon the choice of BSc Major/Extended Major/Minor the 36 units of topics  undertaken will count towards the 108 unit total required for the Bachelor of Science.

Students who do not meet the criteria for guaranteed entry into the Bachelor of Science (Forensic and Analytical Science) may apply to transfer into that degree via the normal competitive admission process.

BIOL1101  Evolution of Biological Diversity (4.5 units)
BIOL1102  Molecular Basis of Life (4.5 units)
CHEM1201  General Chemistry (4.5 units)*
CHEM1101  Chemical Structure and Bonding (4.5 units)
CHEM1102  Modern Chemistry (4.5 units)
FACH1701  Introduction to Forensic Science (4.5 units)
COMS1001  Academic and Professional Communication (4.5 units)

Plus one of:

STAT1122  Biostatistics (4.5 units)**
STAT1121  Data Science (4.5 units)**

*Students who do not have Year 12 Chemistry must take CHEM1201 General Chemistry however students with Year 12 Chemistry may replace this topic with an elective.

** Students who wish to follow the Forensic Biology stream at upper level should choose STAT1122 Biostatistics. Students who wish to follow the Forensic and Analytical Chemistry stream at upper level may choose either STAT topic.
