Andrea joined Flinders Human Behaviour & Health Research Unit (FHBHRU) at Flinders University in 2012 to work in the development and delivery of the online training for the DVA Coordinated Veterans’ Care Program (2012 –June 2017). With the transition to the new discipline of Behavioural Health, Andrea is now the educational lead for the discipline and coordinates post-graduate topics and a number of accredited short courses in Chronic Disease Management and Motivational Interviewing. An integral component of this teaching is recognition and valuing of the person’s own experience in how they manage their chronic condition/s and the importance of collaboration in client centred approaches to care and supporting behaviour change. The use of technology to support the ongoing professional development needs of health professionals, balancing workplace changes in role requirements and expectations is an area of particular interest to Andrea.
