Having an extensive career intially as a practicing registered nurse/midwife I am experienced in clinical governance and multi-discilinary team approaches specifically when managing complex child/family situations in hospital and community, both metropolitan and rural. I have a depth of knowledge and expertise in policy, strategy, politcal acumen, communciation planning and media experience attributed through my proficiency in the previous role as Assistant Minister to the Premier and Member of Parliament (SA) and, with Parenting SA, Child Health Council, Commonwealth Government Health Department (NT), non executive board experience (SA Water; Australian Central Credit Union) and currently in my role as a co-founding board member of Australasian Association of Registered and Practising Nutritionists; and the Australian Medical Women's Memorial Research Fund advisory board. Through my roles as Assistant Minister to the Premier and Presiding Member Public Works Committee my collaborative, analytical, advocay and media skills are highly developed. Through co-leading a family retail business (employing up to 100 people) I have experienced knowledge and skill on all aspects of small business (recruiting, training, financing and budgets, marketing & promotions, customer engagement). My experience as an academic at both UniSA and Flinders University enables me to develop curriculum, delivering to students through case based learning methodology. I am experienced in developing, preparing and presenting persuasive presentations at seminars and conferences. I am a veteran on all matters of political campaigning and advocating.
