Bert Verhoeven is a successful entrepreneur and Senior Lecturer (teaching specialist) Innovation and Enterprise at Flinders University. He started his working life in Holland during the early nineties, creating and leading three successful businesses in the fields of publishing, professional services and international development. The latter international organisation built sport related programs for social, health and educational development in 6 countries.
Since moving to Australia in 2006 he studied and lectured at the Swinburne Business School, where he convened subjects in the Master and Bachelor of Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Bert’s expertise is in Customer/user driven Innovation, lean startup, business models and social entrepreneurship and he has published in Entrepreneurship and Innovation. From 2014-2017 he was responsible for the entrepreneurship component of Swinburne’s Design Factory applying design thinking and lean startup methodology to enable student teams to collaborate on various innovation projects with industry partners like Cisco, Metro, Deloitte, BOM, Visy and Coles.
Bert joined Flinders (NVI) in 2017 and has been a global pioneer in I&E education, integrating AI as a learning tool, working on competency led online and f2f Innovation and Enterprise programs that are student driven and follow a self-determined learning design (heutagogy) to teach customer/user driven innovation in experiential project based workshops.
