I am the student representative for the Australasian Society for Autism Research
I am studying the presentation and diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorders in adulthood. In particular, I am interested in identifying and objectively measuring the core features of autism spectrum disorder in adulthood to improve our understanding assist with diagnoses. I am currently working on a tool to assist with adult ASD diagnoses. You can see my Three Minute Thesis presentation here: 3 Minute Thesis Final - 3MT - Clare Holmes.
I am also interested in comorbid diagnoses among people with disabilities and using social media to engage with the academic and general community about research. As a result, I created and help manage the Flinders University Autism Research Facebook page and Twitter account (@FlindersASD) to promote understanding about autism and information about autism-related events and research. I also manage the social media accounts for the Australasian Society for Autism Research on Facebook and Twitter (@ASfAR_autism) and engage with researchers, clinicians and people with autism through my own Twitter account (@ClareKHolmes) to gather and share the latest findings and insights about autism spectrum disorder.

I am the student representative for the Australasian Society for Autism Research. As a member of the Executive Committee I attend regular meetings to discuss how the organisation can best promote research and understanding of autism spectrum disorders in the areas of detection, support, education and intervention. In this role I also manage the social media accounts of the Australasian Society for Autism Research to encourage the dissemination of research to the broader community. Please see "Research and Supervision" for more information.
