Having completed his higher degree in 2012, he returned for a PhD in 2013 after securing the prestigious Melbourne Neuroscience Institute STRAPA award for clinicians. Based at the Melbourne Brain Centre, his research on ocular biomarkers has attracted international attention. His work in retinal electrophysiology was recognised by the International Society of Electrophysiology and Vision in the form of the Eberhard Dodt Award in 2016. As a clinician and postdoctoral research fellow, Jeremiah was awarded the Guelma Alexander Clinical Fellowship in Neuroscience by the Melbourne Neuroscience Institute where he continued to develop ocular biomarkers in vascular diseases such as diabetes. Throughout his research, Jeremiah has maintained his clinical practice and coordinated the Preclinical skills stream in the Doctor of Optometry program at Melbourne University. In 2020, he accepted a Senior Lecturer position at Flinders University where he teaches Optometry students in the 5-year BMedSci/Master of Optometry program.
