My research focuses on the ways in which the operations and products of transnational corporations act as commercial determinants of health and health equity. To date this research has mainly focused on the fast food, extractives, and alcohol industries. It builds upon the research conducted in the Southgate Institute on social determinants of health. It informs the WHO Collaborating Centre on the Social, Political and Commercial Determinants of Health Equity: a collaboration between the World Health Organisation and the Southgate Institute which began in 2020.
