Formally trained as a Nurse in Adelaide I was recruited to the Northern Terrriory where I gained Paediatric, Midwifery and Intensive care qualifications this experience gave me a rich cultural understanding of the Indigenous population and opportunity to experience living in a tropically biodiverse location. I changed careers gaining degrees in Science and as a Science Technical Officer managing a Plant Genetics Laboratory. I now am one of three Science LaboratoryTechnical Officers providing a range of technical functions to support the programmes of the College of Nursing & Health Sciences including the Riverland.

Key responsibilities

Laboratory Technical Officer:

Preparation of the Science Laboratory environment in Sturt Science and Nursing Clinical Skills Workshops.. Provide technical advice, assistance and calibration of equipment for all topics; - Human Biocscience, Physical Dimentions of Being Human (Nursing) including Renmark, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Optometry, Paramedics and Flinders International Student Centre.

Work Health and Safety:

Assist in providing a safe working enviroment for staff and students in accordance with the University WHS policies - Manage Risk Assessments, Safe Work Procedures, Work Place Inspections and Chemical Manifests for Sturt South Science, East Nursing, and Renmark .
