Academic Status
Martin Veysey is a Consultant Gastroenterologist and General Physician at Royal Darwin Hospital and Professor of Rural Medicine with Flinders University. Martin finished his undergraduate medical training at the Guys and St Thomas’ Hospitals in 1991 and completed basic and advanced training in the UK before gaining his CCST in Gastroenterology and General Medicine in 2002 and moving to Australia. He is a fellow of the UK (FRCP) and Australian (FRACP) medical colleges. From 2003, he worked as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Newcastle, NSW and a Clinical Academic at Gosford on the Central Coast. He returned to the UK in 2017 as MBBS Programme Director at Hull York Medical School. He is now back in Australia in Darwin as a Senior Staff Specialist in Gastroenterology and General Medicine. He is an active member of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and remains involved in undergraduate and post graduate education in Australia and the UK. He holds honorary academic titles with Hull York Medical School and the University of Newcastle, NSW. His clinical and research interests include luminal gastrointestinal disease, colorectal cancer, molecular nutrition and medical education and he has published extensively in these areas.
