Capstone and exit strategy activities
In response to needs voiced by students, two (2) exit forums have been developed in consultation with the Career Development Centre which complement Transition to professional practice 3.
Forum 1 - There is a focus on the experience of the new graduate registered nurse, nursing culture and reality shock during the first year of practice. Students have opportunity to engage with new graduate registered nurses and ask questions of them with regard to their experience during their graduate year and also their experience of job interview etc.
Forum 2 - In a second forum, the focus is on students who missed out on a formal transition to practice program. Opportunity is provided to explore reality shock and also career options with new graduate registered nurses and representatives from industry and education. The role of the Career Development Centre in the support of students is also revisited.
Community 1 - Employability Seminars - engage with community health and nursing providers. Consult with past students who have now graduated and involve them in providing an insight to practice for our final year students. Maintains engagement with the student community.
Professional 1 - Member of Australian College of Nursing; Associate Member of Australian Nursing and Midwifery Foundation; Member National Tertiary Education Union
Professional 2 - Engage with National Council of State Boards of Nursing US International - undertake peer review and consultation with regard to journal articles on a frequent basis
