Susanne joined Flinders University in mid 2019 as Associate Professor in the College of Nursing, Midwifery & Health Sciences. Prior to working at Flinders, Susanne was the Assistant Director of Nursing for Entry to Practice in the Nursing and Midwifery Education Unit at Gold Coast Health. Susanne has been working over the last 16 years for Queensland and South Australia Health, as well as the University sector in a variety of teaching, evidence practice and research positions.

Susanne has published widely, including journal articles, systematic reviews, research reports and a book. She is a Clinical Fellow of the Joanna Briggs Institute (University of Adelaide) and a reviewer for the International Journal of Nursing Practice.

In 2010, Susanne completed her Doctor of Philosophy studies, following her strong interest in the health and wellbeing of rural people. Her thesis entitled ‘Healing Properties: Connection to Land and Cancer Survivorship’ explored how 17 cancer survivors from rural Queensland describe their sense of connection to the land in relation to their survivorship journey.
