Flinders University :Elaine Martin Fund Travel Grants

The Elaine Martin Fund Travel Grants depending on the calibre of applications shall award at least two travel grants in 2018 to students enrolled in a Masters Degree by research or PhD in the College of Science and Engineering on a full-time basis.


Each travel grant will initially be a maximum of $2,000. The travel grants are to assist meeting the economy class round-trip airfare and living expenses involved in attending an overseas conference. Applications for support to attend a major conference in a recognized international series being held in Australia will also be considered.


Applicants must:

  • have completed at least one year enrolled as a postgraduate research student at the time of the planned travel; and
  • not be in full-time paid employment or on fully-paid study leave for a period of 12 months prior to the closing date for applications; and
  • for financial reasons, otherwise be unable to attend the conference for which they have applied.

Selection of winners will be based primarily on academic merit, but also on financial need and the relevance of the conference to the student's postgraduate study.

The confidential referee report form must be returned via email to cse.research@flinders.edu.au by 28 February 2018.

The closing date for applications in each year will be in February for attendance at conferences held after 1 May of the same year and prior to April 30 of the following year.
