Neville Bonner Memorial Scholarship is for an Indigenous Australian to study Honours or combined Honours in Political Science or related subjects such as government, political geography, political history, political anthropology or political economics. The Scholarship is available for study at Honours level at any Australian university.
The Scholarship is equivalent in value to the Australian Government Research Training Program Scholarship Stipend in the year of award, paid over the period of the Scholarship, which is two consecutive academic semesters of full-time study (or pro rata over two years for approved part-time study). In 2018 the Scholarship is valued at $27 596. The scholarship also includes up front payments of the student contribution amounts relevant to the Honours year of study.
To be eligible to apply for the 2019 Neville Bonner Scholarship, candidates must:
be Indigenous Australians of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and are accepted as such by the Indigenous Australian community in which they live or have lived;
be Australian citizens; and
be currently enrolled (or have been enrolled) in a course of study leading to the award of a Degree of Bachelor with majors relevant to the enrolment in an Honours year in politics or political science (or related subjects) at a recognised Australian university.
Candidates must also have been offered a place in Honours in 2019 or have good reason to believe they will be offered a place.
