Flinders University :College of Medicine and Public Health Summer Research Awards

Opening Date: 12-10-2020   Closing Date: 20-10-2020

The Flinders Health and Medical Research Institute as part of the College of Medicine and Public Health (CMPH) at Flinders University will be offering Summer Research Awards to high achieving undergraduate students over the summer vacation period of 2020-2021.

These awards enable recipients to have a 'hands-on' learning experience in a supportive, real-life research environment, within the Flinders Health and Medical Research Institute.

Applicants must fulfil all of the eligibility criteria listed in the University-wide Summer Research Awards.  The following restrictions apply specifically to the CMPH Summer Research Awards:

  • The applicant must be a current full-time undergraduate student of an Australian University and have successfully completed at least one semester of that degree
  • Students already enrolled in an Honours degree, an honours year or a postgraduate coursework degree are ineligible to apply.
  • Flinders University Doctor of Medicine students are postgraduate coursework students and are therefore ineligible to apply.
  • Students who have previously been awarded a CMPH Summer Research Award (previously known as Summer Research Scholarship) are ineligible to apply.

The scholarships are offered for 4 - 6 weeks at $250 per week and are to be undertaken during the summer vacation period commencing November 2020 early March 2021 at a mutually agreed time between student and supervisor.

Selection will be based primarily on academic merit but strategic benefit to the College will also be considered.  Students based in South Australia or the Northern Territory during the academic year may be given preference.

The award will be paid in one lump sum payment at the beginning of the award.

Applicants are strongly encouraged to contact a prospective supervisor, either by email or in person, prior to applying to confirm their availability and willingness to host the student.  Students may only submit one application.  Up to two projects may be nominated in order of preference on the application.  Late applications will not be considered.  Please see e-booklet for potential supervisors.

Non Flinders applicants should complete the non-Flinders student application form and return as per the instructions on the form.

Flinders students should apply via the student system.

Access the Student information system via your OKTA portal and select Student System.

You will find the application by selecting the My Scholarship tab from the top toolbar, and then select create a new scholarship application.  The scholarship application is called CMPH Summer Research Award.  Complete the online form and submit by the closing date.
