Department of Defence :DST Scholarship for Continuing students

The DST  Scholarship for continuing students will be available for students who commenced the Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Electronic Systems and Security), Bachelor of Science (Physics) combined degree (or an approved alternative) between 2021 and 2024. In 2022 this scholarship will be available to students who completed the first year of the course in 2021 and are moving on to the second year of the Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Electronic Systems and Security), Bachelor of Science (Physics) combined degree (or an approved alternative). Purpose

The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to students in the second and subsequent years of the Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Electronic Systems and Security), Bachelor of Science (Physics) combined degree.

Source of funds

The scholarship is funded by DST.

Benefits

Each scholarship will have a value of $3,000 paid in equal instalments after the census date of each semester. Up to 30 scholarships will be available per year for the duration of the funding, normally spread equally over the year levels.  

Eligibility
 
Applicants must:
  • Australian citizens or permanent residents; and
  • be enrolled in the second or subsequent year Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Electronic Systems and Security), Bachelor of Science (Physics) combined degree or an approved alternative*; and
  • normally enrolled full-time at Flinders University; and
  • have a GPA of 5.5 or above.
Students who are enrolled part-time as a result of exceptional circumstances will be considered. Exceptional circumstances may include (but is not limited to) disability, illness or carer responsibilities. Pro-rata benefits will be paid in these instances.
 
* approved alternative degree combinations are:
  • Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Electronic Systems and Security), Bachelor of Science (Physics) (Honours)  - must be in the first three years of the physics honours degree; or
  • Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical and Electronic) (Honours) - Electronic Systems and Security major only, Bachelor of Science (Physics); or
  • Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical and Electronic) (Honours) - Electronic Systems and Security major only, Bachelor of Science (Physics) (Honours)  - must be in the first three years of the physics honours degree

Tenure

 
The tenure for each scholarship is one year subject to students maintaining a GPA of 5.5. The scholarship will be paid in two equal instalments, after the census date of each semester. Previous recipients of this scholarship may reapply in subsequent years. Scholarships will not be awarded for repeat study.
 
Leave
 
Leave will be permitted for the second semester of this scholarship, for a maximum of one semester only.
 
Selection
 
The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic performance in the topics comprising the combined degree. Scholarship selection will be made in accordance with approved procedures.
