Asia Postgraduate Program Rules

Asia Postgraduate Program

The Asia Postgraduate Program is funded by the Department of Education and Training to encourage participation in nominated semester or short term mobility programs.

Subject to the availability of funding, one or more subsidies valued at either $5,000 (for semester) or $2,000 (for short term) may be awarded each year.

Applicants must:

  • be Australian Citizens, Permanent Humanitarian Visa Holders or Permanent Residents of Australia; and
  • be enrolled in a postgraduate Masters coursework degree at Flinders University; and
  • be nominated into the relevant Asia Postgraduate project approved by the Department of Education and Training
  • be enrolled in full-time study while undertaking study overseas; and
  • have their overseas study count as credit towards their course of study at Flinders University; and
  • have not previously received an Asia Postgraduate subsidy for a similar international experience; and
  • not be in receipt of any other Flinders University administered award which provides travel assistance.

The subsidy will be awarded for study undertaken overseas for a period of no longer than six months.

Successful applicants will be eligible for a subsidy valued at either $5,000 (for semester) or $2,000 (for short term). The subsidy will be withdrawn if the recipient ceases to meet the eligibility criteria specified above.

The Asia Postgraduate subsidy will be awarded on the basis of academic merit and the extent to which an applicant’s proposed program of study will enhance their Flinders University studies by providing an international perspective.

Other Awards

Recipients who obtain other travel assistance awards concurrent with the Asia Postgraduate subsidy must immediately inform the Student Mobility Manager and Student Finance Services. Student Finance Services reserves the right to reduce the value of the award if the recipient is offered other scholarships.

The Department of Education and Training may disclose personal information to assist in the administration and promotion of the Asia Postgraduate Program.

The availability of the subsidy will be described on the University website. Interested students should contact the member of staff in relation to the relevant current program as listed at  Asia Postgraduate Program Scholarship page.
