Performance management: feedback essentials

Course description

This course provides a short and focussed top-up relevant to all staff as they prepare for performance and review discussions, about understanding key principles of effective feedback, preparing oneself for a feedback session, and useful techniques for giving and receiving feedback. It will be practical and hands-on in its approach.

Who should attend

Professional staff members who will be participating in performance review and development in accordance with the Professional Staff PRD Framework, either as a supervisor or staff member.

What you will learn

Delegates will gain an understanding about and practical tips on:

  • the principles underpinning the effective giving and receiving of feedback
  • preparing for feedback sessions, both positive and constructive feedback
  • techniques such as reframing and facilitative questioning to assist in making feedback a learning experience
  • Prerequisites / assumed knowledge

    This workshop builds on the content contained in Performance management: fundamentals. Participants are encouraged to have attended that workshop in advance of this session, but it is not mandatory.
