BRINGING A PASSION FOR SPORT INTO THE CLASSROOM
Sport has always been a passion for Flinders' education student Hannah Griffin.
Sport has always been a passion for Flinders University Bachelor of Education (Primary) student Hannah Griffin, who aspires to become a physical education teacher on the back of her coaching and athletic experience.
Hannah’s journey towards the educational side of sport and fitness began in high school where she became focused on researching how to build lean muscle. Although she participated in many sports as a child, Hannah eventually decided to specialise in tennis and netball, both of which she has since coached. More recently, Hannah has competed in rowing and AFL, seeing unique benefits in each sport.
“I began my rowing journey with Scotch College Old Collegians as a weekly mindfulness activity to destress from work”, says Hannah. “This year I tried AFL for the first time. I found the sport to be extremely team orientated and challenging which are aspects I enjoy the most in playing sport.”
Being able to study at Flinders and embrace her passion for sport throughout the process has meant a lot to Hannah. She says Flinders has also provided a positive learning environment and a community that she has embraced with open arms.
“The facilities are excellent and easily located, with very friendly staff who are always willing to help,” says Hannah. “I love being a student at Flinders. I have fantastic tutors who really want to see me excel, and I’ve been creating life-long friends who I cherish.”
