Within 18 months of full-time study, this course will equip you with the knowledge and skills to:
The online Master of Disaster Health Care will prepare you for career opportunities in disaster management and response including disaster medical assistance teams, humanitarian deployment and disaster management and training in the local, national and international arenas.
This well developed course gave me the skills to effectively plan disaster responses. Since graduating I have had the opportunity to be involved in Sexual and Reproductive Health in Humanitarian Crisis training with the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFAT), and am currently assisting the National Critical Care and Trauma Response Centre (NCCTRC) in recognising how this can be implemented as part of our humanitarian response.
The course has provided me with a greater understanding about disaster health care, the research and development of processes that are used in today's environment, as well as important supporting issues such as logistics management. The assignments have encouraged me to think outside the square of my contemporary day to day clinical practice if these were used in a disaster situation.
The Disaster Health Care program is sensational! Whilst challenging at times, my knowledge of all aspects of disaster has grown exponentially and is unexpectedly applicable to my work as a Remote Nurse as well. The online support of facilitators and other students is phenomenal and the online portal is a breeze to navigate; this includes access to one of the best University Libraries in Australia. The best part is that the assignments are interesting, the topics make you want to learn more and because it is all online, you can do it whenever suits you.
