Topic description
This topic introduces students to the nature and function of theology at an introductory level. Students will learn the central teachings of the Christian faith, the a sources of theology, and theological methodology.
Educational aims
The aims of this topic are to:
- introduce students to the nature and function of theology
- examine a range of theological methods
- introduce the central teachings of the Christian faith
- develop students' skills to undertake further theological studies.
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic students will be able to:
- identify the nature, sources and content of Christian theology at an introductory level
- engage critically with a variety of contemporary approaches to theology
- demonstrate the ability to outline the influence of context upon doctrinal development.
