Students will learn how to conduct legal research, analyse cases and interpret legislation, solve legal problems, interview and represent clients, and write and reference legal documents.
Legal Research: students will learn how to research and locate primary and secondary materials.
Legal Writing: students will learn to apply accepted English grammar conventions and the conventions of legal writing. They will learn to observe a legal style guide and referencing guide, plan, draft and finalise a response to a legal question.
Legal Analysis and Problem Solving: students will learn how to identify and interpret legal issues, and how to use primary and secondary sources to critically analyse legal issues and to determine potential solutions.
Client Representation and Interviewing: students will learn how to interview a client to identify key legal issues and provide preliminary advice. They will also learn how to persuasively represent their client in a legal negotiation.
